Further subject options are provided in a partnership with Fitzroy High School where VCE subjects are shared between the two schools.
Students in Year 10 and 11 have the option to study Applied Design. Other VET studies are also available through the Inner Melbourne VET Cluster.
Students are closely monitored and managed by a team of experienced teachers and a youth worker who assist the students in many areas of their lives, from study plans to accommodation.
Students are tracked and assisted for one year following their exit from the College and all students from years 10-12 receive Managed Individual Plans (MIPS) on a yearly review cycle. See Year 12 outcomes.
All year 10 students are encouraged to undertake a VCE study as well as work through integrated projects designed to engage, inspire and build on their middle years experience.
Students also learn through a sculpture project, City Centre Experience, Driver Education and Work Experience.
The Island is a Registered Training Organisation offering nationally accredited training in its various workshops and gives students the opportunity to complete a Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) in their chosen field.
