Strings Concerts

The Strings Staff and Class teachers from Class 3-7 were very proud of the children in the strings concerts last Thursday, 15 August.

The Class 3s performed in the afternoon concert after only rehearsing as an orchestra FIVE times. Seeing their polished performance, you wouldn’t have known that.

The concerts give the children an opportunity to see the purpose of their rehearsals and share the pleasure they have in playing together. Their musical skills such as reading music, listening to each other and sense of timing all improve leading up to the concerts.

It was wonderful to see so many parents attend the afternoon and evening concerts. The finale involving the Senior String Orchestra and a choir of over 80 children performing Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ was a wonderful way to culminate the celebration of strings.

Spring Fair will be the next performance opportunity for the orchestras and other ensembles at the school.

Thanks to the Strings teachers: Jenny Occleshaw, Kim Ho, Christine Vincent, Vince Ward & Adam Piechocinski for their musical preparation of the children and their organisation and to the Class teachers who support their children so well in their musical endeavours.
