Alcohol and Adolescence Workshop

Dear Parents,

This letter is being sent on behalf of Dr Conor Gilligan – a researcher from the University of Newcastle and Professor Dan Lubman and Ms Fiona Blee from Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Centre.

The researchers are interested in helping parents/guardians deal with the challenges associated with their children starting to drink alcohol and would like your help in finding the best way to work with parents.

You are invited to attend a workshop at the school at Collingwood College on Wednesday, 30 October at 6:30pm.

The workshop will explore strategies to help parents prevent or work through a range of issues with their adolescent children and offer information and resources for seeking help.

They will also be conducting discussions with small groups of parents/guardians (up to 10) after the workshop, or if you prefer, you can take part by telephone interview at another time. This is an opportunity to share your views and have your opinion heard.

Please note that you are free to attend the workshop without committing to participate in these additional discussions.

Please read the attached information statement and register your interest if you would like to participate.
