Step into Womanhood – Courses

I’m a Steiner parent who has also completed the 3 year teacher training course at Melbourne Rudolf Steiner Seminars, so I am confident that our program is complementary to the Steiner curriculum and ideals for Year 6 to Year 8 students. Our focus is on developing greater awareness and deeper respect in our young women – for their bodies and themselves, and their relationship to others.

Mother Daughter Coming of Age Retreats held in Bali
Over the 6 days, we offer safe and clearly facilitated sessions to share stories and practical information of women’s experience, giving daughters a relaxed space to hear, learn and be inspired.  We explore personality traits and often weave art therapy into our group work.  The days begin with gentle yoga.  The program balances high energy activities such as white water rafting and dance with time out, Balinese cultural experiences and a booking at the day spa.

I am also a licensed facilitator of Celebration Day for Girls, a one and half day workshop for Grade 5 girls and their mothers, originally developed by Jane Bennett, author of A Blessing not a Curse, at the request of her daughter’s school.  This program, for girls to learn about their bodies and their cycles on their journey to adulthood,  has been successfuly delivered in both Steiner and mainstream schools since 2000.  As I am a licensed facilitator of this workshop, the warm-hearted, practical sharing of knowledge I offer in this program is also brought to the Bali retreat.

The retreat program is also facilitated by Rosemary Colston, child and family psychologist.  We have worked collaboratively, drawing on my experience in Steiner teacher training and roles as a TAFE trainer and community events I have been involved in women’s group work for over 12 years, while Rose has worked with young adults and their families for over 15 years. Our other facilitators include Kimberley Roberts, who has been teaching gentle Sathananda yoga for 15 years, Nicola Vague, art therapist, Melinda Cooper, phsiotherapist specialising in pelvic floor and postnatal care, and Tim Stephenson, 5Rhythms dance facilitator.

Whave another delicious program organised for 2014, and are very much looking forward to sharing it!  We welcome your questions and/or feedback.

Warm regards
