Lunar New Year

Last Friday, on the 14th of February 2014,  the second last day of the 15 day Lunar New Year holiday, our school’s International Students had a gathering in our school’s Tech Kitchen to welcome new international students and to celebrate the Lunar New Year (which you can also call the Spring Festival or the Chinese New Year, the most important holiday in many Asian countries). As last Friday was also the day that the guests from our sister school-Suzhou High- were leaving us to travel back home, they and their host students and host families also joined us in the Tech Kitchen after they came back from their shopping in the city.

It was no big banquet; there was only the food prepared by our international students. But it was definitely a holiday scene in the kitchen. The nearly 60 people who were singing, dancing, laughing, chatting, and playing games made the kitchen look like a market or a family reunion. It was so wonderful to see the students from different backgrounds so harmoniously interacting together.  It was already past 8pm, even when we had only played 2 games instead of the 5 as we planned. Time really flies when you have fun. I believe all the students from a different background have brought something with them from the interactions that they had together. I hope their friendship will last forever.
