Parking Changes for Safer Children

CHANGES IN PARKING WILL BEGIN IN TERM 2

Creating a safe environment for students and families to travel to and from school is very important to the Collingwood College community.

Currently one of the biggest concerns for student travel is the parking and traffic around the school.

In response to these concerns and to encourage better ways to go, the College has worked closely with the City of Yarra.

As a result new parking restrictions have been recommended and these will be implemented during the school holidays ready for the start of Term 2.

The parking changes have been recommended to alleviate the shortage of parking around the school and minimise congestion and dangerous traffic in key areas.

THE CHANGES TO OCCUR

see attached map: ParkingChangesTerm2Map

  • The unrestricted, all-day, parking that is currently in place on Campbell & Vere Streets will be REMOVED.
  • In place will be 4hour parking during the day, between 9.15am-2.30pm.
  • A ‘Drop and Go’ Zone for morning and afternoon will be in place along Vere & Campbell Streets.  This will have 15 minute parking from:
    • 8.15am-9.15am
    • 2.30pm-4pm
  • A New gate entry into the school, for the drop and go zone, on Campbell Street.
  • Staff Parking Permits issued for parking in the staff parking area.
  • Staff and Visitor parking along McCutcheon Way (Education Parking Area).
  • There is no plan to reissue College parking stickers for the Education parking area. This is due to the shortage of parking for staff throughout the day.
