Refugee Week – Winter Stitch Challenge

Hello Parents,

It is Refugee Week 2014 and I have just come across an appeal called the “Winter Stitch Challenge” by The Welcome Group . This volunteer group are aiming to collect 6,000 scarves and 6,000 blankets to be distributed to refugees in and around Melbourne this winter. Beanies, gloves and jumpers also welcome!

They accept hand-made, pre-loved or bought items. See poster below (click on the text to ENLARGE):

I can collect donations only until WEDNESDAY 24TH JUNE.

Collection boxes will be located at the front office and also outside class 3J on the ground floor.

I will collect these items and take them to a local drop off point in Reservoir.

However, donations will be accepted by The Welcome Group until 30th June and possibly a few weeks after this date.

Families can find drop-off locations on the facebook page post by Danielle Smelter:

With such a compassionate community I believe we can make a valuable contribution even at this short notice.

Thanks for your support!

Warm regards,

Veronica O’Brien (Lachlan & Caitlin’s Mum)
