Collingwood College’s Ski Tour

P1010752 copy

The VCE Unit 2 class recently returned from Collingwood College’s first ever ski tour, on Mt St Gwinear (near Mt Baw Baw). While not quite like skiing, and not quite like bushwalking, ski touring requires students to ski with a full pack, carrying all of their provisions for a couple of nights in the snow. It’s like living in a freezer, with no way to escape the cold, and it’s great fun! Students learnt about the delicate alpine environment, and how to protect yourself from hypothermia. Students also learnt how to ski, or more accurately, fall over a lot!
