International Students Camp – Venus Bay

The International Students’Camp

On Saturday, March 7th, our school’s international students in secondary school set off to Venus Bay for a camp.

Saturday’s weather was not warm enough for swimming and water-playing in the sea, and we were not able to have fun digging pipis like what we did in the years before. But the weather didn’t stop us having fun with other activities on the beach. The highlights were the sports games. We had 100m sprint races on the beach for the boys, girls and the whole group. We had the races of running  forwards and walking backwards. It was so much fun.

I was also impressed by the students’ idea of drawing a big love heart with everyone’s name written in. They say that we are a family and that we will love each other like a family. We then had a group photo there to remember that touching moment.

Dale, the school Principal cooked yummy BBQ for us in his holiday house at Venus Bay. I would like thank Dale and his wife Nichole for their hospitality.

The next day we ventured to Walkerville beach. The high tides prevented us from exploring the rock pools there. But the students enjoyed frolicking about in the shallow waters, climbing up the rocks and taking in the gorgeous view. We headed to Inverloch in the evening for pizza dinner. After the dinner, we had a lovely walk along the beach in the sunset. While we were walking , the students were teaching each other basic greeting words in Thai, Vietnamese, Spanish and Chinese. Hopefully they still remember those greetings now.

I am so happy that there were some students who didn’t know each other’s names before the camp, but now, after the camp, have become friends.
