STUDENT LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The school is abuzz at the moment with students from Years 3 and 4 to Year 11 eagerly applying for Leadership positions. It is great to witness the enthusiasm with which the students are responding to these positions of responsibility. It is certainly a great indicator of how enthusiastic students are in wanting to put their hands up and take on extra- curricular leadership roles in their school communities. The available positions are cited below:

Sports Leaders Leader/Captain

  • Helping Organise Sports Days (Swimming/Athletics)
  • Helping with Interschool Sporting Events (Coaching/Timetable)
  • Planning for Regular Sporting Events
  • Overlooking the use of Sporting Equipment for Lunchtime/Recess play
  • Working with other Sports Captains and Sports Teachers
  • Other Sporting Duties that are relevant

 

Performing Arts (Music) Leader/Captain

  • Assisting and organising Musical Performances
  • Monitoring Practice Times
  • Stocktake of Equipment
  • Musical Reports at Assemblies

 

Environmental Leader/Captain

  • Attend Green Team Meetings with Ben the Co-Ordinator of the Green Team
  • Help develop the Green Team and create a role description for this team, as well as long term goals
  • Come up with exciting Green ideas and events
  • Assist in making Collingwood an environmentally friendly environment

 

I T (Technology) Leader/Captain

  • Attend E Learning Meetings with  teachers and being the Student Voice
  • Support IT by giving mini lessons to the students
  • Model appropriate behaviour with the use of IT
  • Support students in the Library at various times
  • Suggest any new software, tools & websites for the school.

 

Sound and Lighting Crew

  • Assist in Theatre and Drama Productions
  • Assist in Concerts and SRC Events
  • Assist in Level or General Assemblies
  • Help organise special functions with staff
  • Offer suggestions of any improvements that can be made

Applications for these positions close on Thursday, 30th of July. Students are being encouraged to collect an application form from outside the staffroom or from the 5/6 Noticeboard and return them to the box outside Liria’s office. Good Luck to all applicants. It’s great to see students wanting to be pro-active and help their school community.
