Community Fair – Working Bees

Saturday 10th and Saturday 17th October 2015

Our community fair is fast approaching with only a few short weeks to go!

With that in mind, we are holding two very important working bees in preparation of the big day and we need you!

SATURDAY OCTOBER 10TH. 10am – 4pm Working Bee & Sausage Sizzle Lunch

This working bee will be to ready the school grounds and do a general tidy up.

The following list is a priority and will require as many people as possible:

– Rubbish cleanup on the Hoddle Street frontage of the school

– New mulch to be spread into garden beds

– Sandpits to be topped up with new sand

– General garden tidy up, weeding, sweeping, light pruning etc

– Any help Trevor needs (this will most likely involve the dismantling of a scaffolding tower and the moving of some excess bricks into storage as well a general tidy up of the newly opened walkway area and adjoining courtyard

– Prepare and re-stock stall equipment boxes

– Assist with cake making

– Print maps, programs, pricelists for the ticket booth

This working bee will also be an ideal opportunity for any classes working on individual stalls to ready themselves with sign making, sorting and or pricing of goods or items such as books and secondhand clothing etc.

If you can’t attend, perhaps you could contribute a salad or plate of food to add to the sausage sizzle lunch and help feed the hungry workers – every bit helps!

The second working bee is scheduled for the day before the fair on

SATURDAY OCTOBER 17th – 9am – 5pm

This is our Fair set up day! Major jobs include:

– Set up the big marquee on the main oval (a great bonding opportunity as the parents of children who are completing  Year 12 pass down the knowledge of the marquee set up to the next group of willing marquee erectors!)

– Portable stage set-up

– Tables and chairs set-up

– Stalls – small marquees, trestles, chairs, signs (everything except food and delicate equipment)

– Curry making (if you would like to help make curries please contact Paul – 0498 633 464)

– Cake making

– Clean and prepare ice boxes, eskies etc

– Lay carpet over extension leads (if you can donate any carpet offcuts or know of someone who can please contact Kylie on 0412 455 823)

– Hand out stall equipment boxes

It is absolutely imperative that each class that has a marquee, trestle tables etc attend this set-up day. The Community fair organizing committee will NOT be taking responsibility for individual class stall set up  – please ensure you have adequate help on this day with a minimum of two parents per class stall.

In order for the Fair to be a success, we will be relying on as many parents, students, friends, relatives as possible to contribute time and energy on both of these working bees as well as Fair Day.

We hope to see as many of you as possible!

The Community Fair Committee.
