Hattah Hike and Paddle

This term, the Class 9 Steiner Hike Program saw the 9C and 9D students paddle the mighty Murray River and hike across the desert in the Hattah-Hulkyne National Park, near Mildura. It’s complicated to organise, but one group starts hiking and the other group starts paddling – beautiful hand made fibreglass and wood canoes. They meet up after a few days, switch gear, and the other group hikes back to the bus, while the other group continues paddling downstream. The river is full of amazing bird life, and the desert is filled with emus, red and grey kangaroos, and scar trees from which aborigines have made canoes and shields. It’s an amazing trip!
