We welcome potential volunteers from our school and wider community.  Our many valued K.G volunteers, find their time learning alongside our students fulfilling and fun. The support these wonderful individuals give our K.G Specialist teachers and students, is highly valued by our students, staff and parents.

“Working as a kitchen volunteer in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation program at Collingwood College has been a great joy for me.  After being a teacher in the State primary school system for thirty years, I retired.  After a couple of years break I completed the Certificate 1V in Hospitality course at Box Institute of TAFE.  Soon afterwards I read in the local paper an article about the kitchen garden program at my local school (Collingwood College).  It sounded an exciting and visionary program and I contacted the school with a view to becoming a kitchen volunteer as I thought it would enable me to use my teaching skills and my hospitality knowledge and skills. As well as providing the children with all sorts of knowledge and skills, I believe the program is a positive influence in the fight against childhood obesity.  The children discover how easy it is to use freshly grown ingredients to turn into delicious meals.  Many of them take copies of recipes home so they can make a dish they have enjoyed for their family.  Most of us volunteers have regularly used recipes from the program at home.  This has been yet another of the many bonuses of being a volunteer in the program. I can honestly say that I feel very lucky to be a volunteer in such an enjoyable and worthwhile program, working with an outstanding group of fellow volunteers and staff, and look forward to going to Collingwood College each week.”
